Naturopathic Appointment Process

Naturopathic Medicine is based on the principles of preventive care and natural medicine, using safe and evidence-based therapies to restore balance in the body and treat chronic and acute conditions. These natural interventions may include lifestyle and nutritional counselling, supplementation, botanical medicine, physical therapy, acupuncture, and other modalities. Naturopathic Medicine takes the whole person into account, looking at biochemical, environmental, physical, and emotional factors that affect our overall health and well-being. With a focus on education, Naturopathic Medicine empowers patients to take on a larger role in their own health journey and gives them the knowledge they need to make informed health decisions.

While Naturopathic Doctor visits are not covered by OHIP at this time, most health benefit plans or private health insurance plans offer at least partial coverage for appointments.

Yes! One of the greatest strengths and benefits of Naturopathic Medicine is that it can be a wonderful complement to many other types of care. In order to ensure that each member of your care team is on the same page, I am happy to write a note to your fertility specialist outlining your treatment plan.

My virtual visits are conducted through video conferencing, and we will meet on my secure patient portal. If you're not feeling up to changing out of your pyjamas, just leave your camera off - no judgment here!

Yes, Naturopathic Doctors are able to requisition lab work. Together, we will go over your results and discuss the next steps that will help you reach your health goals.

Yes. Like medical doctors, Naturopathic Doctors are regulated and required to undergo comprehensive education and rigorous training.

In Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors must:

• have graduated from a 4-year naturopathy program accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) (or have education and experience determined to be equivalent by the CBME)

• have completed a minimum of 3 years of University-level training that includes pre-medical courses

• register with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, the profession's regulatory body

Naturopathic Doctors excel when it comes to preventive medicine, treating chronic illness, and optimizing wellness day-to-day, and use a holistic, whole-body approach that offers highly individualized care. The focus of Naturopathic Medicine is to uncover the root cause and prevent underlying conditions, rather than just their symptoms. While MDs often prescribe pharmaceutical drugs, NDs provide natural therapies such as botanical medicine, supplements, acupuncture, and lifestyle counselling.

Yes. Every treatment plan that I create is guided by the specific needs of each patient. Before coming up with your care plan, we will have an in-depth discussion about your health history and present health concerns, and this will include any prescriptions you may be taking.

Each patient's experience is different, but you will likely see some improvement in the way that you feel quite quickly! Significant or dramatic changes may take more time and consistent adherence to your treatment plan.
